Once a month, the team supported by Grace Episcopal Church furnishes lunch at St. Peter and Paul’s Community Center. At the present time, our numbers run from 120 to 140 plates served. Those numbers include second helpings. We try to serve a nourishing and filling meal. Typically we have a casserole like spanish rice, or goulash, a vegetable, tossed salad, bread and butter. Other menus include chicken noodle (instead of tuna).
This takes place the last Friday of each month, from about 8:00 or 9:00 a.m. to around 1:00 in the afternoon. Tasks include cooking, preparing ingredients and serving. (But not dishwashing!)
If your schedule does not allow for participating in this activity, you can donate desserts, such as cookies or cakes.
One of Grace Church's most important ministries is the Rummage Sale. Parishioners (and sometimes, their friends!) donate clean, functioning and gently used items such as clothing, small appliances, bedding, kitchenware and other household items. These things must be organized for the monthly sale. A rummage sale work day is held every Tuesday morning from 9:00 a.m. to noon.
Lectors and Altar Servers
There are many tasks performed by volunteers during both Sunday Masses: reading the lessons, helping prepare for Communion, assisting people in the congregation. More volunteers are always welcome. You must be at least eight years of age to begin. Full training is provided.
Sometimes, the office could use a hand: stuffing bulletins, getting mailings ready to go, or just answering the phones. No experience necessary!
